Interview Tips

To enhance your success, here is practical advice on how to deal with various aspects of the interview process at Macro, from preparation through follow-up.

Before the Interview

  • Confirm directions to the interview site ahead of time
  • Arrive early – but not too early – for the interview; no more than 15 minutes
  • Don’t be embarrassed about nervousness. In fact, nervousness shows that you are taking the interview seriously
  • Know the company, and understand the position for which you are interviewing
  • Be prepared to answer the most commonly asked interview questions (about your strengths/weaknesses, what makes you the ideal candidate, etc.)
  • Have questions prepared to ask about the company and the position
  • Know your resume, and be prepared to elaborate on the details
  • Know your goals – both short-term and long-term – and how you expect to achieve them

During the Interview

  • Be yourself; it’s you that you’re promoting; it’s you that we’ll hire
  • Be confident and self-assured, and let it show in your handshake
  • Smile!
  • Listen carefully. If a question is not clear, ask for clarification
  • Use specific examples when appropriate to illustrate your points
  • If you don’t know the answer to a question, say so
  • Close on a positive note, and be sure to thank the interviewer for his/her time

After the Interview

  • Send a thank-you note or email to the person(s) who interviewed you
  • Make sure you spell names and addresses correctly
  • Restate your interest in the position and desire to work for Macro
