    SENIOR CONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR

    DATABASE MANAGER

    MACRO INTERNATIONAL INC. is a professional services firm offering high quality research, management consulting and information technology services supporting business and government.

    MACRO is seeking a Database Manager to support the database management activities of several large-scale surveillance projects. Main responsibilities will include database management for two large-scale, national HIV/AIDS surveillance systems that monitor risk behaviors among populations at risk for infection and behaviors and clinical outcomes among HIV-infected persons. Activities will include involvement in data process and monitoring system design and testing, data processing and reconciliation, data set compilation and reporting, ad hoc analyses, technical assistance site visits and provision of remote technical assistance to federally funded grantees.

    Applicants must possess hands-on expertise in SPSS and SAS including programming skills, experience in database construction and documentation, and data cleaning, editing, and reconciliation. Knowledge of MS Access and SUDAAN are a plus.

    Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years experience in database management required. A background in health or social science research a plus. Must be able to work in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision are all a must for this position.

    DATA ANALYST

    The Futures Institute, a sub-contractor to the MEASURE Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) project, is seeking to hire a Data Analyst to support analytical studies on demographic and health issues in developing countries. Duties include: conducting analyses of large survey data sets using statistical software packages, and assisting in preparing tabular and graphic materials of statistical data using spreadsheet and related computer programs. The position is based at the MEASURE DHS project at Macro International in Calverton, Maryland, USA, and the analyst will report to the Director of Research in the Demographic and Health Research Division of Macro.

    Qualifications:

    • Masters degree in a social science or health-related field.
    • Strong knowledge of statistical techniques, including multivariate methods.
    • Experience in using statistical software packages, such as Stata, SPSS, or SAS.
    • Experience in analyzing data from large social surveys.
    • Knowledge of developing country population and health issues.
    • Ability to work successfully in teams and with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.

    INFECTIOUS DISEASE SPECIALIST

    CAMRIS International, Inc., a rapidly growing firm with programs in international development, public health and knowledge management, is seeking an INFECTIOUS DISEASE SPECIALIST to provide support to an international survey program collecting, analyzing and disseminating population and health data. A background in malaria, HIV/AIDS, and/or TB research is required, as is at least a Master’s level degree. Previous experience in providing technical assistance in household or facility surveys in international settings is preferred.  Prior support to monitoring and evaluation activities conducted for USAID or multinational organizations would be an asset.     MONITORING AND EVALUATION SPECIALIST

    Macro is seeking a Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist with Malaria experience. This position will work under the supervision of the Macro Principal Investigator for MEASURE Evaluation and work in teams with other MEASURE Evaluation s ta ff to implement project objectives and activities. Duties: provide technical assistance on the development of M&E strategies; work with country programs on surveillance and routine information for malaria; collaborate with partners such as Roll Back Malaria Partnership and the Global Fund on the implementation of malaria indicator surveys and other data collection tools; and utilize data for policy development and program management.

    Candidates with experience in other infectious diseases, the scope could be expanded to include work in avian influenza, tuberculosis, and other emerging health threats.

    MD or PhD (epidemiology, demography, or related disciplines) and 5 years experience with malaria program management in developing countries required. Prior experience needed in the use of measurement methods required for monitoring and evaluating international population and health programs, including strong skills in quanti ta tive and quali ta tive research. Experience in other infectious disease program monitoring and evaluation a plus. Must have the ability to work independently and manage projects on a daily basis with minimal supervision; and work effectively with other project staff, the prime contractor, USAID, other donors and international organizations. Foreign language skills are highly desirable (esp. French, Portuguese, Spanish). Ability to travel up to 20% internationally.

    • Supporting in-country researchers in methodology design, quality control, and analysis in Africa, Asia, Latin America/Caribbean, Middle East and Central Eastern Europe.

    Bachelor’s degree in social science discipline and 1-3 years experience conducting international research and evaluation required.  Master’s degree preferred.  Use of qualitative and quantitative information in the creation of reports, a plus.     WEB TEAM MANAGER

    Blue Raster is seeking a Web Team Manager responsible for strategic planning and oversight of the MEASURE DHS website and accompanying Web servers.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage technical and content elements of the USAID MEASURE DHS Web site and Web-based tools
    • Supervise part- and full-time programmers, Web content writers, and Web designers
    • Liaise with project staff to enhance and update Web site content
    • Promote Web site use and access
    • Track Web site use
    • Ensure compliance with USAID branding, Section 508 and ADA requirements
    • Hire consultants as needed for specific tasks
    • Serve as the project point person for all Web site related issues

    The successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree preferably with a concentration in computer science or related field or equivalent training and experience.     The Bethesda office of Macro International Inc. is seeking a Project Assistant to support multiple annual surveys and data collection efforts for education projects within the U.S.
    Primary responsibilities for this entry-level position include:

    • Conducting data collection activities, including providing content and technical support and performing (electronic) mail-outs and phone and e-mail follow-up
    • Maintaining weekly project logs and preparing monthly progress reports
    • Facilitating project logistics such as scheduling meetings, conference rooms, conference calls, etc.
    • Tracking activities, deliverables, and timelines
    • Taking meeting minutes and action items during meetings and performing basic follow-up
    • Some data entry and other administrative tasks as needed
