Section
508, a 1998 amendment to the U.S. Federal Rehabilitation Act, mandates that the electronic and information
technology used by Federal agencies must be accessible to people with disabilities. Covered disabilities
include deafness, blindness, paralysis, convulsive disorders and developmental disabilities.
At ICF Macro
we believe that universal design and adherence to coding standards are the best means of ensuring
access to the broadest possible audience, and our design and evaluation staff work together with
our programmers to achieve those goals. We use
a variety of methodologies to ensure that our systems are in compliance with Federal, state and Agency
requirements. Addressing accessibility issues from the
earliest stages of the design process ensures that barriers are not designed into our clients’ Web
sites or systems.
