Center for Substance Abuse Prevention’s Community Partnership Training Project
Macro provides ongoing support to government efforts to prevent alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse by working with community leaders to organize local prevention efforts. For this project, we conducted nationwide training focused on community development, organization development, and prevention methods. We designed and delivered four culture-specific institutes on empowerment and healing, and 30 1- and 2-day skill-building workshops on community economic development, fundraising, violence prevention, conflict resolution, and valuing diversity. Macro developed more than 40 training curricula, delivered more than 350 training events, and trained more than 25,000 community leaders nationwide.
Telecommunications Sales Force Training Program
This comprehensive training program demonstrates how Macro worked with a large telecommunications firm to teach employees how to use business case data to influence decisionmaking. Our goal in developing this training was to show the sales force how it could improve sales performance by understanding and leveraging their brand in ways that would generate positive returns on investment. The sales database provided baseline measurements, including metrics such as closed contract revenue, average revenue per contract, the number of new prospects, and the number of services sold per contract. One goal of this project has been to measure the outcomes achieved; another is to teach the target group how to make similar business cases to their respective customers. We conducted customer surveys prior to and after the trainings to determine changes in customer satisfaction. As a result of the training, weekly revenue increased dramatically over the baseline period.
MACROmodules
Macro develops customized MACROmodules, which are self-paced training curricula that make learning time more effective, accelerate the learning process, and make training available at a convenient time and place for trainees. One of our MACROmodules is a training curriculum aimed at substance abuse prevention and treatment professionals. Each of the eight workbooks in the series covers a different topic, such as community mobilization and outcome-based prevention. These specialized self-study workbooks contain information, examples, activities, and questions that, when completed, give the trainee a thorough mastery of the concept taught. The objective of MACROmodules is to help professionals develop the knowledge and skills they need to become certified or to upgrade skills needed to remain current in their field.
