Substance Abuse and Pregnancy Evaluation of Services
Macro directed a national, cross-site outcome evaluation of services for women who use illicit substances during their pregnancies. Beginning at some local-level sites, women and their babies enrolled in treatment and comparison groups were tracked at regularly scheduled intervals, up to 24 months postpartum. Macro collected data on substance use, lifestyle, maternal well-being, child development, and the types of services received by clients. The study findings show that receiving services generally produced positive outcomes, but that no particular single service or set of services produced statistically significant beneficial effects. However, this finding supports the importance of tailoring services for substance abusing pregnant women, and that local programs may be best suited to determine which services are most appropriate for the populations they serve.
Breast and Cervical Health Telephone Survey
Macro is conducting the Maine Women's Health Survey for the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program (MBCHP), an ongoing evaluation project to assess MBCHP member satisfaction. Sample participants, derived from the MBCHP member list, are interviewed by telephone according to the MBCHP outlines for the survey. Macro's responsibility for this task included setup (formatting, programming, testing, and training), and data collection, processing, and reporting.
