Diversity Issues
Photo: African-American workerToday’s workforce reflects the changing face of our Nation. Almost one-third of all Americans identify themselves as a racial or ethnic minority. Within the next few years, nearly half of those who are employed will be people of color and women. Successful organizations already have diverse workforces, but many are still seeking ways to integrate people in a manner that commands respect, understanding, and the best use of gender and cultural differences. Macro can work with your organization to create an environment where diversity is valued and its value contributes to your organizational achievement. We already have trained thousands of employees to work effectively within a diverse environment for the benefit of both public and private organizations. Course options include cultural awareness and sexual harassment trainings, conducted onsite or through computer-based methods.

Macro has provided curricula development services, organization development services, train-the-trainer classes, MCEP training workshops, and followup interventions for NASA's MCEP at its headquarters and its nationwide installations. For NASA headquarters, we provided ongoing facilitation for diversity management training and dialog sessions. We worked with headquarters to arrange for and provide services to the installations across the country. In addition, we worked directly with each installation in developing specific training and facilitation activities that met the unique needs of its personnel. A total of 22,000 NASA employees received training.

The Maryland State Police Department selected Macro to provide professional consultants and trainers to develop a state-of-the-art sexual harassment prevention and resolution program. We set up a multifaceted program to support the MSP’s emphasis on “zero tolerance for harassment of any kind.” The program included a “train-the-trainers” component, executive briefings, policy development, and monitoring the application of training. Approximately 2,500 Maryland State Police employees, both civilian and sworn, received the training.
