Leadership & Management Development
Photo: A female managerGood leaders operate well at several levels, from mentor and coach to organizational planner. A good leader must operate vertically and horizontally within the organization. Unprecedented developments in society, the environment, and industry are creating a need for change within both government and the private sectors that produce new issues, and increasingly complex challenges. Leaders must deal with shifting regulatory and competitive environments, cultural diversity, quality management, rapid changes in technology, and more. Macro helps corporate and Federal leaders improve their skills in interpersonal effectiveness, group leadership, cross-cultural management, inter-group dynamics, managing change, and leading for the future.

Three young women talking Leadership Development Academy
A large private school for disadvantaged children turned to Macro to create a leadership development program and deliver a series of training and followup forums. Macro provided in-depth research on leadership development approaches, integrated objectives with the school's corporate mission and goals, and developed selection criteria for participants. This groundwork formed the basis for a 5-day Leadership Academy delivered as a residential program. Monthly forums over a 1-year period provided reinforcement of skills in five core areas. We are designing a second-year program based on the success of the Academy in improving cross-functional communication and teaming.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center engaged Macro to provide a full range of organizational development services that included leadership training. A large part of this contract required us to design, develop, and conduct a series of 2-week residential courses for some 300 mid-level managers assigned to a variety of leadership roles. Leadership themes emphasized self-assessment, interpersonal skills, group dynamics, problem solving, change management, and more. The early success of this program opened up additional opportunities to Macro to develop and conduct a 5-day seminar for upper management and a 3-day team-building session for executives.
