Needs Assessment

A needs assessment helps answer several critical questions—what problem is a program trying to address? What services currently are available? What gaps in service exist? What resources/programs are needed to fill those gaps? Who should the target audience be? What are the best ways to reach this audience? ICF Macro can illuminate your information needs and potential messages and examine opportunities to reach each of your target audiences, with an emphasis on targeted, effective communications methods and cultural competence.

Parent Information and Resource Centers

ICF Macro produced an English- and Spanish-language kit called "100 Tips for Parents" for the Parent Information and Resource Centers to help them strengthen their focus on parental involvement. The idea for the "Tips" kit grew out of an extensive needs assessment that we conducted through focus groups. All of the information contained in the "Tips" kits is research-based and covers topics relevant to the target audience. We accomplished all of the work in-house.

Materials for Parents of Teens with Epilepsy

ICF Macro conducted a needs assessment focused on parents of teens with epilepsy. We completed a literature search and held focus groups to explore the need for materials that would help parents better support their teens in their efforts to take responsibility for managing their epilepsy. ICF Macro content-analyzed video, edited it, and used moment-by-moment message testing to determine what resonated with parents. The results of that project are being used to develop messages and materials that will assist these parents.
