This projection is consistent with research on cell phone interviewing that ICF Macro
has conducted since 2003. ICF Macro has taken the lead in developing cell phone
research methodologies and has introduced the first cell phone omnibus survey,
MacroPoll Wireless.
Traditional telephone surveys, conducted by randomly dialing landline-based
phone numbers, do not represent the growing population of cord-cutters. Certain
population segments, such as 18- to 34-year-old adults, have all but disappeared
from landline surveys.
Cell phone surveys also offer unique advantages for longitudinal analysis. Text
messages can reduce attrition and, even though subjects move around, cell phone
numbers often remain the same.
